Adult Leader Training
Training is an important part of the Boy Scout movement. The Board of Directors of the Dan Beard Council feel it is necessary to provide all leaders the adequate training consistent with National Boy Scouts of America policies. Trained leaders are most effective in teaching the Charter Partner's values and ideas to their youth. Trained BSA leaders maintain the highest levels of youth retention and advancement. All leaders in the Boy Scouts of America are highly encouraged to receive the appropriate training.
The training that a leader needs depends on the youth's age and program in which they are participating. Training workshops are not just about awareness and effective management of youth groups, they are great sources of program ideas and chances to ask questions of very active and qualified Scouters. The Valley District is blessed with some of the most qualified scouters in the Dan Beard Council, so please take advantage of their expertise and knowledge. Fellowship and socializing are also expected to happen at all training sessions.
Finally, it is very important to let the record keepers of the Dan Beard Council know which leaders are trained and what positions they hold with the pack, troop, or post. This is done by correctly filling out the rechartering papers. If you have not received or completed your unit's recharter packet, please contact your district executive at 961-2336 extension 205 to set up an appointment.

Scoutmastership Fundamentals is a scouting function and a full uniform will be expected.
Course DescriptionTraining is geared towards the leaders in Boy Scout troops and Exploring Posts. This is a hand on course that teaches you to be more confident in the outdoors with the youth and the ability to recognize and handle emergencies. Camping basics such as cooking on an open fire and setting up camp along with fellowship and program ideas are included.

Troop 6 covers the cost of adult leader training. Please let Taylor Edwards know you wish to attend and he will complete the necessary paperwork. He will make checks payable to Dan Beard Council (Account # 311-20) and mail or deliver to: Dan Beard Council, 2331 Victory Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45206-2865. He will include Name, Unit# (Troop 6), District (Valley District), Phone, Scouting Position, Address.
